Author Rank- The New SEO

Everyone in digital marketing is familiar with PageRank. PageRank, the link analysis algorithm used by Google's web search engine, has long served as the chief metric to determine the relative quality of Web pages. And now it’s being replaced by AuthorRank. AuthorRank will, in 2013, become the new quality metric that determines search engine rankings. The blogger AJ Kohn wrote that AuthorRank will be “bigger than [recent Google updates] Panda and Penguin combined." AuthorRank entirely transforms the Google search engine paradigm. Where once Web page authority was based on the established authority of a domain or Web page, it will now be tied to the reputation of the person who authored that content. Where once Web page authority was based on the established authority of a domain or Web page, it will now be tied to the reputation of the person who authored that content. Google Authorship is indispensable because it gives Google a way to tie the content you create to a distinct author profile. After you’ve signed up for Authorship, you should find any piece of content you’ve created and use Google’s Rich Snippet Testing Tool to check that you’ve written your rich snippet correctly. This will ensure that the content you’ve created actually gets factored into your reputation score and boosts your AuthorRank. Next, you will want to set up a Google Plus account. Google will be using your “circles” to determine your Author Rank. Just having a Google Plus account won’t be enough, however. You’ll need to use it actively. Post on the network frequently, interact with people on it who share your interests and are working in the same field you are, and make sure that you get included in other people’s circles. All of these networking activities will boost your Author Rank. This all sounds straightforward but it requires one very uncommon thing: quality content. AuthorRank is partly determined by engagement factors; if your content gets endorsed on social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), your AuthorRank will increase. In an era when content is becoming ever more prevalent, you are going to need to craft truly engaging content to get noticed and see the benefits of AuthorRank.
